Grab some lined paper and a pen – that’s all you need! Writing images from one’s memory and imagination can be a healing act. According to studies, some individuals may benefit from participating in expressive writing as part of their supportive cancer treatment. The writing act can be a form of healing for patients dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Sue has been promoting journal writing as a tool for personal growth and self-care for many years. She prefers the term “therapeutic writing” believing It better explains the benefits inherent in its use. Research supports the effectiveness of writing to reduce hypertension and increase immune system functioning as well as many other benefits.

Hypnosis doesn’t do the healing, it is a technique that actives your own natural healing potential.
You will learn the truth about how self-hypnosis works, 3 effective methods of self-hypnosis, how to create suggestions for change that really work, how to enhance creativity and intuition, and how to use hypnosis to manage stress.

Book Club in person in northern Arizona: Atlas of the Heart by Brene' Brown
Time
10:00 AM
In Atlas of the Heart, Brown takes us on a journey through eighty-seven of the emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human. As she maps the necessary skills and an actionable framework for meaningful connection, she gives us the language and tools to access a universe of new choices and second chances—a universe where we can share and steward the stories of our bravest and most heartbreaking moments with one another in a way that builds connection.
Over the past two decades, Brown’s extensive research into the experiences that make us who we are has shaped the cultural conversation and helped define what it means to be courageous with our lives. Atlas of the Heart draws on this research, as well as on Brown’s singular skills as a storyteller, to show us how accurately naming an experience doesn’t give the experience more power—it gives us the power of understanding, meaning, and choice.
Brown shares, “I want this book to be an atlas for all of us, because I believe that, with an adventurous heart and the right maps, we can travel anywhere and never fear losing ourselves.”
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In her latest book, Brené Brown writes, “If we want to find the way back to ourselves and one another, we need language and the grounded confidence to both tell our stories and be stewards of the stories that we hear. This is the framework for meaningful connection.”
We will spend 90 minutes sharing our thoughts on this book. You are welcome to bring your favorite snack!!

The Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, or Forest Bathing, is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness.
Let's support one another by introducing a healthy lifestyle choice to our Thursdays and practice forest bathing by walking together from 12 noon - 1 pm in gorgeous Flagstaff, AZ. We will meet in the parking lot of Cancer Support Community Northern Arizona and walk the beautiful downtown residential area. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring walking poles, hat, and water. Be sure to apply sunscreen and dress appropriately for the day's weather. You are welcome to bring a friend and leash-trained dogs are always welcome.
Throughout November and December Forest Bathing could become Expressive Arts if the weather is not conducive to walking. Both start at noon at CSCAZ northern Arizona, 914 N. San Francisco Street.

Taught by Sue Meyn, M C. She has presented to many organizations in Phoenix and now Flagstaff, and was a facilitator for groups at Cancer Support Community Arizona for seventeen years.
