Forest Bathing in northern Arizona Time 9:30 AM

The Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, or Forest Bathing, is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness.

Let's support one another by introducing a healthy lifestyle choice to our Wednesdays and practice forest bathing by walking together from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm in gorgeous Flagstaff, AZ. Please ALWAYS register in advance so we know you are coming. Forest Bathing starts at noon at CSCAZ northern Arizona, 914 N. San Francisco Street, weather permitting, each Wednesday throughout the spring and summer. If we have inclement weather on Wednesday, that day will magically morph into expressive arts.

The group will depart from CSCAZ at 9:30 am and everyone is invited to bring snacks and/or lunch, water, sunscreen, a hat, and walking poles.

Upcoming destinations include:

  • April 30 Veit Springs Loop
  • May 7 Marshall Lake
  • May 14 Pumphouse Wash Trail
  • May 21 Buffalo Park
  • May 28 Priest Draw Trail

Expressive Arts Field Trip to Japanese Friendship Garden Time 10:00 AM Location Japanese Friendship Garden

The Expressive Arts program is hitting the road with a field trip to the sublime RoHoEn, the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, on Wednesday, April 30.

We have 10 passes to this supremely serene setting and will be doing a Japanese-style art activity as part of our trip. The adventure will begin promptly at 10 AM when we gather at CSCAZ's Palm Lane campus and carpool to the garden. We will enjoy a lovely stroll around the gardens starting at 10:15 AM. Anyone is welcome to join!

The garden is a joint project between the City of Phoenix and its Sister City, Himeji, Japan, to cement the bonds of friendship between the two communities. Its name, RoHoEn comes from the Japanese words for heron (the bird symbol for the city of Himeji), phoenix, and garden.

With its peaceful paths, stone bridges, gardens, and colorful koi ponds, this promises to be an outing filled with tranquility and inspiration, and a perfect way to enrich the mind, body, and spirit. We hope you'll join us.

Please Email Info@cscaz.org if you would like to be added to the waitlist.
