Expressive Arts in person in northern Arizona Time 10:30 AM Location NAZ Main Campus Expressive Arts focuses on projects that help participants explore the changes and challenges they find themselves in through various artistic methods. Appropriate class for cancer patients, caregivers, family members, and friends. No experience necessary. Materials provided for those pre-registered. Each week we will be focused on a unique project: May 22: No expressive arts today -- instead from 10:30 - 1:00 we will be taking a Forest Bathing Fieldtrip to Sandy Canyon. Bring your lunch, beverage, sun screen, hat and walking shoes and meet at CSCAZ for a 10:30 am departure. May 29: Llama Coloring Extravaganza June 5: Egg Carton Flowers June 12: 10:30-1:30 Forest Bathng Fieldtrip to Kendrick Park. Forest Bathing in-person (Flagstaff CSCAZ) Time 12:00 PM The Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, or Forest Bathing, is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness. Let's support one another by introducing a healthy lifestyle choice to our Wednesdays and Thursdays and practice forest bathing by walking together from 12 noon - 1 pm in gorgeous Flagstaff, AZ. On Wednesday May 29, June 5, July 3, July 17, July 31 we will meet at the entrance to Buffalo Park by the Buffalo Statue to walk from noon - 1:00 pm. On Wednesday May 22 we will depart from CSCAZ at 10:30 am to take a Forest Bathing Fieldtrip to Sandy Canyon. Pack your lunch and plenty of water and be on time for a 10:30 am departure. On Wednesday, June 12 we will depart from CSCAZ at 10:30 am to take a Forest Bathing Fieldtrip to Kendrick Park. Pack your lunch and plenty of water and be on time for a 10:30 am departure. On Wednesday, June 26 we will depart from CSCAZ at 10:30 am to take a Forest Bathing Fieldtrip to Picture Canyon. Pack your lunch and plenty of water and be on time for a 10:30 am departure. On Wednesday, July 10 we will depart from CSCAZ at 10:30 am to take a Forest Bathing Fieldtrip to Walnut Canyon. Pack your lunch and plenty of water and be on time for a 10:30 am departure. On Thursdays, we will meet in the parking lot of Cancer Support Community Northern Arizona and walk the beautiful downtown residential area. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring walking poles, hat, and water. Be sure to apply sunscreen and dress appropriately for the day's weather. You are welcome to bring a friend and leash-trained dogs are welcome on Thursdays. Please ALWAYS register in advance so we know you are coming. Metastatic Group Time 1:00 PM

If you are diagnosed with cancer that has metastasized (or spread) to other areas of the body, your needs may be different from those who have cancer at an earlier stage. In this group, we’ll provide a safe space to explore the unique ways in which cancer is impacting your life.  By building a community with others who “get it,” you can learn how to increase your quality of life and support one another through the ups and downs of a complex cancer journey. Led by a licensed clinician, this group is focused on increasing hope, empowerment, and community.

Digital Sherpa / Telehealth 101 Time 2:00 PM Location Building A at the Palm Lane Campus

Do you want to learn how to use technology to stay connected and access health services?

Join us for Telehealth 101, a free workshop where we’ll show you how to access your medical records, sign up for CSCAZ programs, connect to telehealth and other technology services, find COVID resources. Whether you need help with wi-fi, passwords, ride-share apps, or social media, we’ve got you covered. When you register, be sure to fill out the survey that will be provided to let us know your needs and what you would like to learn.

This support group is open to anyone caring for a loved one with a current or recent cancer diagnosis. In this group, we will provide a safe space to explore what cancer means in your life as a caregiver and in return you will find a community of individuals who will stand with you and who understand your story because they have lived it. The primary focus of this group is to support your emotional and social needs as we strive to be there for one another throughout the challenges of caring for our loved ones who have been impacted by cancer.

Post-treatment/Thrivers Group Time 5:30 PM

Thrivers Support Group

 

A successful transition from active cancer treatment to life post-treatment is critical to your physical health and emotional well-being.  In this group, members will connect with others in our open free group. This group is for those who have completed treatment within the past 6 months.  This group is led by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is confidential.  People can share their personal experiences, ways of coping and helpful resources.  This group will take place online and use a password protected virtual meeting room.

 

This group will:

 

  • Reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety and stress.
  • Help learning new ways to cope.
  • Increases feelings of hope and empowerment
