Clay Luminaries: Coil-Built Ceramics (2-Part Series)
Instructor: Kim Edwards
Dates: Tuesdays, March 3 & March 24
Join us for a two-part clay series led by artist Kim Edwards, where participants will create their own coil-built clay luminaries from start to finish. This hands-on class introduces the coil-building technique, allowing you to shape a functional and expressive
ceramic piece designed to glow when lit.
-
Part 1 (March 3): Participants will design and build their luminary using hand-built coil techniques, focusing on form, texture, and structure.
-
Part 2 (March 24): After proper drying and firing time, participants will return to glaze their own pieces, with guidance and multiple glazing options available to personalize the final look.
The two-part format allows for thoughtful creation, adequate drying and firing time, and more creative freedom during the glazing process. No prior clay experience is required—this class is suitable for beginners and returning artists alike.
All materials will be provided. Space is limited.
